| The concept was originated from the members of the Pearl City Elevator board of directors who were looking for a way to add value to corn for local producers. The Adkins Energy Cooperative was formed out of those discussions with 349 members made up of producers and local investors from twelve counties in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Today Adkins Energy Cooperative and Pearl City Elevator are partners in the LLC creating a farmer cooperative owned ethanol plant. Adkins Energy LLC is one of the few ventures in the country 100% owned by farmers. |
